Stonewall started in 1989 when three friends pooled their resources and talents for a little back yard entertainment. Their first gig was the annual and immensely popular Antigua Girls High School fete, putting them at the head of what would become an in-demand local industry – the sound system culture popular in Jamaica. The Stonewall and Exorcist rivalry is legendary, and much like the tug-o-wars between the Red and Blue, and Short Shirt and Swallow, supremacy was never decisively established. But Stonewall’s consistency is indisputable; so, too, is its record as a cutting edge, modern sound system.
The management team of Cliff and Whitney Williams adjusted the business model to meet today’s challenges, forming the subsidiary music production business Stonewall Reloaded.
The November 27th anniversary party at the Coast is open to the public and marks not the end but a milestone for Antigua and Barbuda’s premier sound system.
