November is all about the annual shake-up in English Harbour! Before we get to the new, we have to give kudos to the restaurants who have stayed the course for the entire summer — no easy feat! High on that list are Trappas Restaurant & Bar, Club House (formerly Club Sushi), Bar-B's Restaurant and Bar, Life On the Corner, Papa's, Seabreeze Cafe/Bar/Gelateria and Shirley Heights Lookout. And only closed for a few weeks off, Cloggy's Café, Boom at Gunpowder House, Admiral's Inn - Pillars Restaurant, Captain’s Quarters Restaurant & Bar, Terrace, The Reef, Mainbrace at Copper & Lumber, South Point Restaurant and Flatties Flame Grill.
People used to say that English Harbour closed for the summer, and while it's certainly quieter, the dining options get better each year. Of course now we are nearly into season and with the arrival of boats from Europe & America, there is a palpable energy that starts to bubble under.
This weekend sees the opening of an old classic, Catherine's Café sur la Plage, under new management. A fresh new beach vibe, complemented by a Parisian café-style playlist, and a beach menu served at European speed will build on an already fabulous dining experience.
Also new this week, La Brasserie French Restaurant & Bar opens its doors. Ironically their location is just next door to Catherine’s (version one) and it's fantastic to see a new metamorphosis of this location. Home to the Classics Sail Past party, they join forces with Incanto Restaurant and Lounge Bar this season (once open) to host party nights throughout the week, as well as offering up a new dining experience.
Back ‘on the Drive (Dockyard)’ Ticchio-Italian Food and Wine (more on that soon) has relocated to Harbour Walk, and coming next week the contemporary dining options expand as South Point, Cambusa Italian Restaurant, Abracadabra Restaurant & Disco-Bar since 1985 and Sun Ra are back as well as picture perfect coffee spot HotHotHotSpot.
And with that, the international yachting season begins and Antigua is most definitely ready!
