THE EPIC TEEN CHALLENGE LAUNCHES IN ANTIGUA
Wednesday 6th March 2013

Luxury sailing resort, Nonsuch Bay, is launching the Epic Teen Challenge – a three discipline sports challenge exclusively for teenage guests at the resort.

Incorporating sailing, kayaking and swimming, the Epic Teen Challenge is geared towards 13 to 18 year olds, broken down into two age categories competing for separate leader boards (13-15 and 16-18).

The challenge will involve a two mile single-handed sail in a dinghy around Mongoose Island, before switching to a Kayak or stand-up Paddle Board to paddle 150 metres out into the Bay to a marker buoy and back, then a 100 metre swim from the beach and back.

The Challenge, which will take place once a week during the summer school holidays (6 July to 31 August 2013), will be in full view from the resort to allow for plenty of support from spectators. The resort will also hold beach chill outs for teenagers with non-alcoholic sundowners around the new beach fire pit.

All participants that complete the challenge will be awarded a certificate with their time, and a Nonsuch Bay t-shirt.  An Epic Teen Challenge leader board, displayed on the Sailing Hut, will keep an ongoing record of the Top Ten Teens with the fastest times.

Commenting on the Epic Teen Challenge, Cameron Fraser, General Manager at Nonsuch Bay commented, “This challenge will provide an additional focus and hopefully lots of fun for our teenage guests, while allowing them to consolidate the water sport skills learnt earlier in the week.  We recently introduced a successful Swallows and Amazons Adventure for younger children and this is the perfect complement."

Nonsuch Bay is a 40 acre waterfront resort in South East Antigua, offering luxury apartments and villas with specialist facilities for sailing including dinghies, keelboats and hobie cats and expert sailing instruction for all levels.  The resort offers a sailing programme for children and teenagers, as well as a kite boarding and windsurfing school.  The resort also features The Bay @ Nonsuch Bar and Restaurant with award-winning chef, Mitchell Husbands, three infinity pools and childcare and crèche facilities.

The price for a family of four staying in a two bedroom apartment, with inclusive sailing starts from £630 per person.  The price includes airport transfers, but not flights.

The challenge will be free for teenagers staying for a minimum of seven nights and booked with inclusive sailing.  It will be open to others at US$ 30 per person.
