Shavorn Philip, Javorn Stevens and Jamarlie Stevens will be traveling to Barbados as participants in the Digicel Kickstart Academy November 11 – 18.   These three young, aspiring football players were selected in May 2013 after competing with 1,500 other footballers in the Digicel Kickstart Clinic.

At the Academy, the crème de la crème of young footballing talent from across the region will be put through their paces by the best of the best football coaches from Chelsea Football club.

Digicel believes that grassroots football is vital to the ongoing development of the sport in the Caribbean and Central America. Today’s professional players started out at grassroots clubs and were scouted from there and as such, we must start to develop young players technically at the earliest possible opportunity.

The Digicel Kick Start Clinics programme is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the thousands of aspiring young footballers. Through the Clinics, these boys are not only taught about skill and technical ability but also an ethos of professionalism and a good attitude – critical attributes of successful people in all walks of life.

The positive knock-on effect of the DKSC is untold as young footballers take their learnings back to their local teams. They will share not only the technical knowledge but also their enthusiasm, having been inspired and motivated to achieve success – as a footballer or whatever path they may take in life.

With this significant partnership with Chelsea, Digicel is further demonstrating its commitment to the ongoing development of grassroots football across the Caribbean and Central America.

Shavorn, Javorn and Jamarlie will be traveling on Sunday to begin their week long training in Barbados.
