DJ Chickie, quite simply, is an Antiguan & Barbuda legend. A master of the decks, Chickie has quite rightly earned his place among the stars of Antigua & Barbuda. An event organizer &  DJ Par Excellence, with a career spanning 30 years that continues to go from strength to strength. So where did it all begin?

“I have always loved music as it brings people together in the best possible way. Nothing makes me more proud than to see the fun, energy and excitement that happens as a result of a great DJ set!”

“I started very early, playing school fetes & sidewalk jams with a boombox! I grew up in Otters with my parents and 3 brothers. We were given strong values and taught to be proud of who we were, to walk with pride & to follow our dreams. My dream was music and I have been very lucky to make my dream my living for over 30 years”

The only non-cricketer to ever win a “Man of the Match” award & the first to establish the cricket “Party Stand” concept, It is clear that Chickie is a man of firsts. So why the Antigua & Barbuda For Life Campaign?

“It’s another first! When Troy Byrne, Digicel’s Marketing Manager, asked me to be part of this campaign, I was both honored & delighted!

“It is a celebration of pride in who we are, where we have come from and where we are headed! Every good thing starts with a good vibe, with positive energy & as a very proud Antiguan & Barbudan I was thrilled to see this joy & vibe reflected in the campaign”
Today also sees the launch of the “Show Your Colors” element of the campaign.

To further celebrate national pride, Digicel is giving away bumper stickers from its Woods Mall, Redcliffe Street and Royal Palm Place offices, free to the public. Everyone is encouraged to call in to get their free sticker and place it somewhere that can be seen by all, to “Show Your Colors”.

“Again this is another first! All those that get a sticker, and put it on their car, food stand,  luggage, cases, stalls or anywhere that it can be easily seen have a chance to be called live on air and win a surprise – just for showing you are proud of your country! So what advice does Chickie have for all those that aspire to follow their dreams?
“Be yourself. Stick to what you love. In doing so, you will make yourself proud and all those who come around will be proud of you too.”

According to Chickie, success comes with hard work, respect and having love for what you do and for those around you.

“I have won awards, performed in front of thousands of people and travelled the world. I have received the praise of Prime Ministers from Trinidad, Jamaica & across the Caribbean. Not too bad for a boy from Otters that had a dream to make music his life!
