DIGICEL TAKES IT TO THE STREET WITH CPL
Thursday 10th August 2017

Thursday 10th August 2017 – Castries, St. Lucia: Digicel and the Hero Caribbean Premier League launched phase two of its youth programme, Take it to the Streets, which kicked off on Tuesday, August 8th in Trinidad and Tobago.

Over 25 excited and energetic kids from the Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago team turned up at the Nelson Mandela Park to train with Trinbago Knight Riders Head Coach, Simon Katich and other members of the team.

What followed after was an afternoon filled with excitement as the kids’ cricketing talent was on full display – diving catches, immaculate hand eye coordination and not to mention the focus and attention to detail. Seeing their performance, Trinbago Knight Riders Manager, Colin Borde, advised the kids to keep following their dreams, maintain their focus and never give up. He said; “Think big, dream big and anything is possible.”

Members of the Knight Riders who were also present namely, Javon Searles and Khary Pierre, shared their experiences while giving the kids some sound advice. Khary said; “I remember being your age and dreamt of the big stage and competing against the best. It got hard at times but guess what, I never stopped working and more importantly, I never stopped dreaming. Continue to work hard and I’m sure I’ll share this stage with you some day.”

Digicel Head of Sponsorship, Ben Bradley, said; “It’s always an exciting time when the biggest party in sport comes to town - but even more exciting when the kids get to meet their idols from the team. The programme is all about developing the next generation of cricketers and we’re very happy to be working with CPL to accomplish this.”

Take it to the Streets with Digicel and CPL moves on to St. Lucia on August 11th, 2017.
