NATIONAL OFFICE OF DISASTER SERVICES

PREVENTION, PROTECTION AND RELIEF

MISSION

The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) was established as a state-run agency of the government with responsibility to reduce the vulnerability of natural and technological hazards in the twin island state, through multi-sector and integrated hazard risk reduction management. (NODS) through its operations seeks at all times to save life and protect property in Antigua and Barbuda.   NODS also provides administrative and emergency support base on request from the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) to assist any of the CDEMA member states.

NODS assists in the planning and execution of comprehensive stakeholder disaster management exercises at the national level. This is done to test the effectiveness of existing plans and identify deficiencies that need to be addressed by various agencies.
