RUPERT K. HENRY JUNIOR TENNIS TOURNAMENT RESULTS
Tuesday 8th November 2011

It was a pleasure for the ABTA to have on hand the ITF representative for the Caribbean -Mr. Anthony Jeremiah on island to witness the completion of the Rupert K. Henry tennis 10s junior tournament. Saturday 5th November, 2011 was bustling with activity at the Halcyon by Rex Resort as our under 10 boys and girls started to battle in the final rounds of the competition.

Both main draw and consolation matches were played, allowing our juniors to play more matches and harnessing their competitive spirit.
The girls competition was won by Chante Francis (student of St. Michael's primary) who defeated Shareese Henry ( St. John's Catholic Primary) 10-5 both ladies also train at the Halcyon Tennis club.
The boys competition was won by Ayden Ambrose (Foundation Mixed) who defeated Keon Armstrong (St. John's Lutheran) 10-2; Ambrose currently trains at Halcyon Tennis Club while Armstrong trains with Samantha.

Everyone was a winner - in the consolation competition Selene Kentish(St. Andrews Primary) won the girls U10 consolation finals over Hannah Sternhagen (St. John's Lutheran); both these ladies also train at the Halcyon Tennis club.
The boys consolation finals was won by Justin Marcano (St. Andrews primary) over Liam Costello Platts (Island Academy) ; Marcano trains at Jolly Harbour while Costello Platts trains with
Samantha.

The promoters/sponsors of the tournament promises to make this an Annual Event. It is the wish of the survivors of Mr. Rupert K. Henry to see tennis in every community accross the island; with that said we are encouraging the business community to adopt a school, help in your small way to make tennis develop in our twin islans state of Antigua & Barbuda.

We continue to thank the sponsors who helped to make this tournament a resounding success – American Airlines, Grace Kennedy(Western Union), Old Road Fund, ACT, Hadeed Motors, Colombian Emeralds, Call Center Services,Briko One and Mrs. Fields.

We also want to thank the media houses who help to spread the word ABS TV, Observer newspaper and Jo Jo Apparicio.

A tournament is nothing without officials and players - we thank Larry Michael the tournament director and Charmain Ephraim our statistician and all our on court assistants.
