EFA & ASHWORTH COLLEGE TO OFFER $50,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS
Friday 16th July 2010

Education for Advancement (EFA) has announced the availability of $50,000 in scholarships from its academic partner Ashworth College, a leading provider of accredited distance education in the U.S.  The scholarship money will be used to assist Caribbean-based students pursuing a degree online in the 2010-2011 academic year.  The funds will be divided up to provide one year full scholarships for up to twenty persons.

“We want to empower Caribbean people from all walks of life to earn a degree that will help them advance personally and professionally,” explained John Evans, President of EFA.  “We will consider candidates who have proven themselves academically or through their work experience and also demonstrate a financial need.”

Applicants about to embark on their college education or may already have earned an associate degree.  In Antigua and Barbuda Ashworth College have accreditation agreements with the Antigua State College and the Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Technology to allow full credit transfer from their associate degree programs.

Ashworth College also allows applicants to receive credits for life experience in work, the military and even volunteer positions.  By accepting associate degree and life-experience credits, Ashworth helps accelerate the college process, enabling some students to complete a full bachelor’s degree in as few as 12 months.

Students who are awarded scholarships will have access to Ashworth College’s complete range of self-paced degree courses which include Business, Management, Accounting, Finance, Early Childhood Education, Marketing and Criminal Justice.  Over twenty degree courses are available in total.
“We support EFA’s mission to bring a world-class education to residents of the Caribbean,” said Dr. Milton Miller, Vice President of Education, Ashworth College.  “In these tough economic times, the option of scholarship money can make the difference between someone working on their college degree now or having to delay their educational goals due to limited finances.”
“We make the process of obtaining a degree online a smooth, meaningful and engaging experience for Caribbean residents,” Evans said.  “Our team is on hand to guide students throughout the process from registration to graduation, and now to also provide access to the scholarships from Ashworth College.”
The deadline to apply for an Ashworth College scholarship through EFA is August 31, 2010.  Interested parties should contact the local EFA Office at 562-6368 or antigua@efalearning.com  for more details or through www.EducationforAdvancement.com.
