REPEAT BUSINESS CRITICAL IN STRUGGLING TIMES
Thursday 17th November 2011

“Repeat business in struggling economic times is critical for the sustainability of the tourism industry" is the view of a leading Sandals Official on the island. Gerald Christ, General Manager of Sandals Grande Antigua is expressing the opinion after over 150 tourists flocked to Sandals Grande Antigua for its annual Reunion Week celebrations last week. Christ says that whilst it has become challenging for hotels worldwide to lure new customers to their premises, loyalty plays a great role in helping to sustain decent occupancy levels.

"We have certainly seen a great following by thousands across the Sandals chain this fall season," Christ said. He continued, "customer loyalty to any brand continues to prove crucial, especially in light of the global recession, which our traditional markets are slowly recovering from. So as the US continues to struggle with its national debt and unemployment rate at 9%, it helps to have customers who are loyal to your brand."
Christ also hailed the 30th Anniversary Reunion Week celebrations a resounding success. The initiative is aimed at observing the special milestone for Sandals Resorts International in the Caribbean which now operates 22 resorts under three different brands.

“The Antiguan product offering continues to impress our guests and last week we were able to meet several customers who have been back to the island time after time. There are some visitors who have spent over 400 nights at Sandals and just keep coming back. I attribute this to the unique tourism employees that Antigua and Barbuda produces,” Christ remarked.

Tourists to Sandals Grande Antigua were treated to island excursions, cultural nights, and authentic Caribbean and Antiguan cuisine. Additionally, thousands attended the Reunion Week celebrations at various Sandals and Beaches resorts in six exotic islands across the Caribbean. There are over 400,000 active members of the Sandals Select Club, the company’s customer loyalty program.
