HOMECOMING FASHION SHOW
Thursday 21st October 2010

Come 24th October at 7:30pm the Multipurpose Centre comes alive with a grand fashion showcase featuring twelve (12) local fashion designers and highlighting leading Vincentian fashion designer Kimone Baptiste. The show celebrates our 29th Independence boasting our emerging unique national style and fostering the ever increasingly popular regional brand - the Caribbean Aesthetic…..Pappy Show is not only presenting local fashion, it is a platform empowering young individuals and promoting eco-friendly environmental awareness through a competition-based showdown of style engaging recyclable fabrics/materials.

Twelve (12) local designers are vying for the title of best interpretation of “Go Green” in creative design. This is part of the universal drive to promote sustainable development through the creative and cultural industries. The budding local designer fraternity welcomes the endorsement of the Ministry of Culture under the Honorable Eleston “Namba” Adams.

Chairperson of the Homecoming Fashion Extravaganza, Vanda Neale Gardener has been harnessing the talent of the up and coming designer fraternity in an effort to boast not only cultural appreciation but to promote viable trade in nontraditional economic practice. She and her hardworking committee, Bernard Francis, Brian Gardner, Terri-Anne “T- Rocka” Richardson, Sharon Herbert, Ashley D. Edwards, Rickenson “Jeffery” Ettienne and Althea Richardson-Walter have commissioned the services of renowned regional production designer Richard Young who is director for both Guyana Fashion Weekend and Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago. He is on a mission of acknowledging/ heralding Caribbean Style and presenting it to the world. His commitment has serviced youth empowerment initiatives throughout the region as well as endorsed ethical practice in the fashion industry while integrating biodiversity programs into the cultural landscape. Through his workshops models have undergone training in deportment, confidence building, stage dynamics in preparation for the fashion extravaganza on Sunday.  It’s a show worth seeing. Come and participate in celebrating Antiguan style.
