9th Superyacht Challenge Antigua
Jan 30 - 03 Feb 2019

The ninth edition of the Superyacht Challenge Antigua will take place from Jan 30 – Feb 3, featuring a programme of four races held over four days for yachts of 80 feet and over. The fleet for this spectacular regatta has now assembled in Antigua. With just over a week to the first race, boat captains and their team are readying themselves, and the magnificent yachts, for a memorable celebration of superyacht action and fabulous evening entertainment.

The racing off the south coast of Antigua will be magnificent; the trade winds have been blowing for many weeks. Warm air, solid breeze and a good sea state promise perfect conditions for the powerful fleet. Designed to be solely for the pleasure of superyacht owners, their guests and crew, the Superyacht Challenge Antigua organises competitive racing and laid back parties. Nelson's Dockyard, the UNESCO World Heritage site, is party central with festivities organised at the Super Yacht Dock beach. The historic Admiral's Inn hosts the Welcome Party at Boom Restaurant, and a Prize Giving amongst the 18th century pillars of the famous hotel.

If you would like to enjoy the atmosphere at the Superyacht Challenge Antigua, the Paddle Board Competition is open to entries. The fun-filled competition will be held on Friday 01 February from 16:00 at Nelson's Dockyard Marina Super Yacht Dock. There are a very limited number of slots available. A minimum donations will be US$30 per head, larger donations welcomed. Proceeds will go to the Cottage of Hope, which is the charity for the ocean rowing team, Team Antigua Island Girls. At the time of going to press, Team Antigua Island Girls are expected to finish the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in time to join in the celebrations! The 140ft (42m) German Frers ketch Rebecca is one of the world's most beautiful superyachts. Rebecca first raced in the Superyacht Challenge Antigua in 2012 taking first place, and this will be her fifth appearance. Rebecca will be celebrating her 20th birthday during the regatta, which is certain to provide a memorable dock party - Superyacht style!
