GORDON AND FRANKER WIN THE 2010 INET INTERNATIONAL PAIRS
Monday 13th September 2010

Stewart Gordon and Marcus Franker have won the 2010 INET International Pairs Antigua and Barbuda Golf Tournament. They and 31 other pairs teed off and played in very challenging circumstances – the heavy down pours failed to dampen the golfers’ spirits as they played all 18 holes.

Gordon and Franker won by one point and the elated champions are looking forward to representing Antigua and Barbuda at the International Pairs World Finals 2010 in Loch Lomond Scotland. They also added that they had to play really well given the conditions and feel as though they have had some practice regarding the conditions they expect to meet in Scotland.

At an awards presentation cocktail hosted by Food and Drink Guide at the Sugar Ridge Resort, Gordon and Franker received INET Trophies, vouchers for INET service and handsets from PCS, as well as two airline tickets to Scotland courtesy British Airways; two Airline tickets to Santo Domingo courtesy LIAT (the pair will also play at the FCAA Charity Golf Tournament); registration courtesy the Antigua and Barbuda Pier Group; two Tissot Watches compliments Colombian Emeralds and two bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue presented by Sir Vivian Richards, Johnnie Walker Ambassador. The duo also received a gift of polarised sun glasses from Eye Mobile. Whilst in Scotland, transportation will be provided courtesy of Hertz.

Andy Hall and Claudio Itturiaga walked away with second place, whilst defending champions mark Woodhouse and Wayne Mitchell were in third place. The received a variety of prizes compliments INET, Colombian Emeralds and Johnnie Walker.

Scott Potter received a bottle of Johnnie Walker Green for the longest drive on the first hole, whilst Omari James received a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black 4.5 litre Swing for the longest drive at the 18th hole.

The event’s 2010 celebrity guests, Jeffrey Dujon and Franklyn Stephenson were presented with special packages from the Antigua and Barbuda Department of Tourism and were hosted by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority at Galley Bay Hotel. They were provided with transportation compliments of Antigua Motors Ltd, who also provided a hole in one prize of a Chevrolet Spark Sport, which unfortunately went unclaimed!

Zorol Barthley, CEO of Golf Experience Caribbean, the tournament’s organiser is very happy with the day’s proceedings: “It was a very challenging day and the golfers coped very well under the circumstances and I want to thank the wonderful team at the Cedar Valley Golf Club for all the hard work and effort they put in to ensure that we had a first class event.
