JOLLY HARBOUR YACHT CLUB ANNUAL REGATTA Monday 2nd December 2013

The weekend of November 23 and 24 saw two days of yacht racing in the blue waters off Jolly Harbour. The fleet were split into two classes, cruisers and racers. The little racing boat “Challenger” sailed by young Antiguans from the National Sailing Academy suffered a technical failure early on in the proceedings but came back to race well on Sunday.
In lighter than normal winds on Saturday, the yacht “Blue Peter” had the edge on “BiWi Magic” in the racing class whilst the beautiful Swedish yacht “Ocean Harmony” won all three races in the cruising class.
Sunday was a different picture with lighter winds and an unexpected squall which saw “Full Monty”, “Yess” and “Cydia” give “Ocean Harmony” some strong competition in the cruising class and “BiWi Magic” gaining the upper hand on “Blue Peter” in the racing class.

The prize-giving ceremony took place at “West Point” the home of Jolly Harbour Yacht Club where John Wills of “Ocean Harmony” and Geoffrey Pidduck of “BiWi Magic” collected various trophies and lots of prizes for winning their respective classes.
The Yacht Club thanks Anjo’s, Quin Farara, Melinis Restaurant, Budget Marine, Epicurean, Sugar Ridge, Jetovator, CDAL and the Commodore for donating the prizes and Jolly Harbour Marina for visitors berthing. The Club’s next Regatta is on the 15th and 16th of February 2014. In the meantime the club will continue racing out of Jolly Harbour every Saturday afternoon.
