JOLLY HARBOUR YACHT CLUB

At a Special General Meeting of Jolly Harbour Yacht Club held at the Jolly Harbour Golf Club on July 14, new members were elected to the Executive Committee.

Open positions included Commodore, Vice Commodore, Rear Commodore and Sail Fleet Captain.  Two members stood for the position of Commodore - George Kaersenhout and Chris Chitty.  When the votes had been tabulated, Chris Chitty was named the new Commodore of the Club.

Having been very active in the past with the Club's Youth Sailing Program, Chris expressed his desire to continue to work on the program in close cooperation with the National Sailing Academy.  Other plans Chris has for the Club are for a newsletter to be sent to all members on a regular basis and to contribute to the hard work necessary to continue to host successful regattas.

Keith Weightman was the only member nominated for the position of Vice Commodore.  The nomination was seconded and Keith was named Vice Commodore.  Brian Turton took on the roll of Rear Commodore and Tanner Jones was nominated and seconded as Sail Fleet Captain.

Jolly Harbour Yacht Club has Saturday afternoon racing virtually every Saturday of the year.  It's not necessary to be a member to participate so come out next Saturday and enjoy the fun!
