And now we have great pleasure in announcing...

The wonderfully talented concert pianist Marta Sulikowska flies in from Poland to perform for the Antigua Opera Society

Marta’s musical education and career began in Łódź at the Polish Academy of Music. From there she graduated with Honours in both piano and chamber music. Marta’s undeniable ability was rewarded when she was offered master classes by many eminent teachers across the theatrical spectrum.

These included classical pianist, Helmut Deutsch, Brenda Hurley,a leading vocal coach of her generation, former opera director Eytan Pessen and film director Tadeusz Chmielewsk.

Between 2009 and 2016, Marta took her talent to another level as a vocal and acting coach, again at the Academy of Music Łódź, before joining the world renown Chopin University of Music, Warsaw.

Still in the capital city, since August 2017, Marta has been in great demand as both pianist and vocal coach for opera productions and is keenly involved with the Young Talent Development programme at the Grand Theatre Opera Academy, working with a stellar list of vocalists and pianists. Marta was also the Pianist for Gianmaria’s first Opera “La Boheme” in Poland in 2017 with the same team that brings you the Antigua Opera Society.

Her commanding presence and breadth of musical knowledge have been applauded with many awards at international competitions. Marta has also made many orchestral recordings and gives concerts in her own right as an artist.

The three new and individual productions by Gianmaria can be seen at three venues: The National Sailing Academy, Clarence House and The Cove Restaurant, Blue Waters. Here are the details:

The Sailing Academy is an open air venue and has a large capacity. For those, particularly with family, wanting a local and exciting atmosphere on more casual lines this would be great for them. The AOS do not think that this performance is suitable for children younger than 5, but at the same time are encouraging teenagers and young adults, especially with a musical interest, to come and experience something new. To this end, The Society are sponsoring young adults up to the age of 15 to come free of charge.

The Antigua Opera Society is a registered charity offering Opera Performances on island and all profits will go to support musical and vocal education of children in Antigua and next year’s intended production. Plans for 2020 include, for the first time ever, a full Opera in March/April and discussions for this are already in motion. Their Excellencies Sir Rodney and Lady Williams are the Society’s Patrons and are firmly and actively supporting the planning stage for this year’s performances.

The Antigua Opera Society was founded by Marcel and Aneta Polk of Mamora Bay, both serious opera fans, as a non-profit charity with the mission of contributing funds to Antigua music organisations and students to encourage the study of music, both vocal and instrumental. If you would like to learn more about becoming a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Member of the Antigua Opera Society, please email us on antiguaopera@gmail.com . It is only through Sponsorship and Patronage that the Society will grow over the years and we will be able to help more musical talent on Antigua and Barbuda with Gifts, Grants and Bursaries. It is our firm wish that in 5 years from now we will have both soloists, chorus and instrument players in the Opera production which will become a yearly event. But we need your kind and generous help. To become a Bronze member it is US$100 a year; a Silver member US$500 a year and a Gold Member US$1000. Every single member helps us put on affordable performances and to sponsor free places for children as well as donate to specific projects. Your kind support will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
