Antigua & Barbuda, St. John’s – Wishing Well Inc. representatives were on hand to present a donation to American University of Antigua (AUA) students who are part of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OB/Gyn) Student Interest group.

The students received EC$500, in the form of Epicurean Supermarket gift vouchers, which the students used to purchase toiletries and other supplies for well-deserving women who attended the Health Fair.

“We are happy to support this group of enthusiastic students who approached us with the request to assist with much needed items for the Health Fair that focuses on Breast Cancer awareness. We know that quite a few persons who attended this screening event may not have the resources to spend on basic necessities. We commend these students from the Interest group for being pro-active and creative in their approach to support those women who are in need of these products.” - Mr. Michael Friend, Store Manager of Epicurean, Friars Hill Road.

"The Breast Screening Health Fair was the second one co-organized by the AUA Oncology Student Interest Group Board members, created in 2015 by Med 4 student Alexandra Tibil who wanted to bring more awareness about the prevention of breast cancer in Antigua. The event was well attended during its inaugural year and screened over 100 female residents of Antigua. We are grateful to the Wishing Well Inc. Foundation and Epicurean Supermarket for supporting us with a donation to make our goal of putting together care packages for those visiting the screening a reality." - Miss Jenny Ov, AUA student

The second annual Breast Screening Health Fair was held on Saturday, October 8th 2016 at The Caribbean Cancer Centre Eastern Caribbean (TCCEC) on Queen Elizabeth Highway from 7:00 am. – 3:00 pm. and focused on providing free Breast Cancer awareness and basic screening for women. The event is supported by Breast Friends, Lions Club of Antigua, TCCEC and the Ob/Gyn Student Interest group.
