12th Annual Best in the West Fishing Tournament

Due to the weather the tournament scheduled for Saturday, November 7 has now been postponed to Saturday, November 14.

The 12th annual fun Sports Fishing Tournament "The Best in the West Fishing Tournament" is set for Saturday, November 14 from 5:00 am - 3:30 pm at Al Porto Dock, Jolly Harbour.

Captain's Information
Entrance Fee: EC$300 per boat. Must be paid by Friday 6 pm on 06/11/15.

• Depart from any port.
• Lines in 5 a.m.
• Must be back at Al Porto dock by 3:30 pm.
• Prizes and Trophies (10)
• Champion boat overall (most poundage)
• Champion boat over 25ft. (most poundage)
• Champion boat 25ft. and under (most poundage)
• Biggest fish by male/female/junior
• Largest fish of each species (wahoo/tuna/dolphin/king fish)
• No billfish / no shark / no barracudas

Tournament held under the following rules. Judges decision is final.

Juniors

•  Must be 13 years old and under
• The junior’s fish must weigh 60lbs or less, no more. As such choose their strikes carefully. If the fish is over 60lbs it will qualify towards the boat’s most poundage only and nothing else.
• Junior anglers may be physically assisted with hands on help without restrictions to teach them the proper techniques and principles in fighting the fish.

An optional “Calcutta” side bet will be held for the biggest Wahoo. (EC$100 in the pot, the largest wahoo gets the lot)

Fish caught remain the property of the boats. Arrangements will be made to buy the fish at the dock for the wholesale price of EC$8.00 per pound less 15% for guts for those boats willing to sell their catch. Fresh fish can also be bought individually from the boats at the going retail price.

All fish must be kept iced when caught!

The Honour System
This tournament like most others is run under the principle of “The Honour System” as opposed to monitoring it with Go Pros, invigilators, lie detector tests, etc. As such the captain of each boat entered is bound by his honour and ethics to observe and follow the regulations, and no less is expected of him.

Al Porto will be ready to serve drinks & food from 3:00 pm, with the following One Time Only Prices:

• 5yr Old EHR (with mixer) EC$8.00
• All Pizza's EC$35.00
• Chicken Pasta EC$35.00

Please come out with your family and tell your friends. There will be lots to eat and drink, and we hope lots of fish will seen on sale. If you like wahoo, dolphin, tuna be sure to be there early so you can speak with the individual captains to purchase their catch.
