26 October 2018: All Saints United and Sea View Farm booked their places into the finals of the Warriors Cup 2018 with expected victories over Garden Stars and Young Warriors respectively in the semi-finals Thursday at the Mack Pond Playing Field in All Saints.
United overcame a scare to defeat Stars 2-1 after Sea View Farm had defeated host club, Young Warriors, 3-1 in the earlier fixture.
Josh Warner capitalized on a mix-up in the All Saints’ defence as he stabbed home a cross to put the Table Hill Gordon side ahead early in the first-half.
Former national U20 team player Kendua Challenger restored parity with a rising left-footed drive before half-time while Shafeeq Joseph scored the eventual winner midway through the second-half for the home side.
Goals by national team U20 trainee Chevon Moore, Markland Wright and Zafique Sampson powered Sea View Farm to their win as Warriors’ scored a consolation item when 14-year-old striker Reuben Rubel beat national U20 goalkeeper J’niah Oscar from the penalty-spot on the second attempt after Caric James was fouled inside the area while going on a mazy dribble.
United and SVF will contest Friday’s final at 6:30pm after Stars and Warriors meet in their third-place play-off at 5pm.
After the final the champions and runners-up will receive their trophies while the top individual players (Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder, Golden Booth and Golden Ball) will also be awarded.
