MARLOW ONE DESIGN REGATTA Monday 11th June 2012
Already, the competition is getting fierce for the 11th annual Marlow One-Design Regatta. Hosted by the St. Maarten Yacht Club, the Marlow Regatta will be held on June 16-17, 2012.
This year, Budget Marine has sponsored a local team led by Karl James. Also participating are, Hans Vandergulik from Curacao and Mowgli Fox from St. Barth’s have registered to challenge our top-notch local teams. Last year’s winning team, skippered by St. Maarten’s own Jolyon Ferron, will be back again to defend their title, as will Frits Bus and Robbie Ferron.
This two-day regatta will take place during the weekend of June 16-17, 2012, in the Simpson Bay Lagoon, St. Maarten. Once again, Lagoon Sailboat Rental, N.V. is providing its fleet of Jeanneau 20 one-design sailboats. A number of short windward-leeward races will be sailed over the course of the weekend. The boats are rotated between races to ensure a level playing field. The races are fast, the competition stiff, and the action is extremely fun to watch.
The event is sponsored by Marlow Rope, U.K., which has been manufacturing high-quality yacht rope for over 200 years, including their high-performance line of Dyneema<R> rope. The brand is distributed by the Budget Marine Group, located in 12 locations throughout the Caribbean.
