DREAM WEEKS FOR SPORTS FANS Thursday 5th June 2014
The next two weeks you may see a lot of people walking around bleary-eyed from watching too much TV—and most of them will be either political types watching the election outcome on June 12, or more likely, NBA and FIFA soccer fans.
The overlapping schedules of these big matches will have our bars and restaurants with big screens (like the ones we note below) scurrying around to make sure they have enough sets for both. From June 12-20, they may have to set up zones for the different sports.
Where to Watch
Among the Antiguanice network of sports-watching venues are:
- The Majestic Isle Casino in Dickenson Bay has 15 screens in the lounge area, the most of any place in Antigua
- The Crow’s Nest has two smaller screens and a mega screen they will be devoting to the NBA until the FIFA matches start
- Sugar Club, with screens in the lounge area, offers Buckets of Carib beers at EC$35 as well as special light bites menu whilst watching the game
- Life on the Corner will be open in the evenings with several screens around the place to keep with what’ going on
- Coconut Grove has a big screen in the bar area for game watching, and one of the friendliest bars with a great ocean view
- The Captain’s Quarters Restaurant & Sports Bar at the Catamaran Hotel has a 150” mega screen plus several smaller screens ideal for watching all the action
- BeachlimerZ really gets into sports, and will have the games and matches on their TVs around the restaurant, plus some drink specials
- King's Casino will be showing all the games and matches on their screens in the lounge
- Putters Bar & Grill will have their big screen set up outside in the evenings for catching all the action and offer specials on Heineken beer
