ANTIGUA'S NATIONAL SAILING ACADEMY NEEDS YOUR HELP Tuesday 20th November 2012
BACKGROUND
The NSA of Antigua & Barbuda exists to teach sailing to the youth of our country for FREE!
The children pay nothing! However the cost of providing the facilities and staff is immense, and funding support is drawn from a wide range of local business, Super Yacht owners and Government, as well as an extensive event programme.
Our concept is to expose children to the thriving Antiguan Yachting Industry and give them the skills to add "strings to their bows" for future employment potential in this industry.
Every week up to 150 school children are trained at our dinghy sailing centres at Falmouth Harbour and Jolly Harbour.
Our instructors are all RYA qualified, and our fleet comprises Picos, Optimists, Lasers, Toppers, Sport 16's, and a single Cork 1720 keelboat in which our elite sailors are trained in the skills of racing. We enter our team in Regattas around the Caribbean and they are slowly coming to grips with this aspect of the sport.
Competitively, our target is to foster new Antiguan talent to follow in the footsteps of our Olympic stars Franklin Braithwaite, Eli Fuller and Karl James, the Academy's current Chief Instructor.
WE NEED YOUR HELP please!
We seek another Cork 1720 for our Jolly Harbour base in order to build a team to match race our Falmouth Harbour sailors in the regular Saturday afternoon racing in Jolly Harbour, to hone 2 teams to represent the NSA in Caribbean regattas. In this way we will spread the word for Youth Sail Training around the region.
We feel that sourcing and funding another boat is within our current resources. However, there is not another single Cork 1720 in Antigua.
Your assistance is sought in shipping the yacht once we have found one. Every season hundreds of Super Yachts and Merchant Ships visit Antigua. There are also regular specialised yacht shippers to the Caribbean.
Obviously we are always in need of funds to continue to offer this FREE resource to our youngsters, and any financial contribution is always welcome and recognised. However, our prime objective here is to launch our appeal through your contacts in the hope that you, and they, will spread the word on our behalf.
Who do you know in the Sailing, Charter & Shipping sectors who may be able to help? Please pass this on and ask them to contact us at: info@nationalsailingacademy.org

Thank you for your time. We hope that together we can make this happen.
