COTSWOLD AREA CIVIL SERVICE Friday 20th September 2024
The NSA Challenger crew with the crew of Sao Jorge
A huge thank you to the crew from the Cotswold Area Civil Service Sports Association for chartering Sao Jorge and raising funds to support us at the National Sailing Academy. Their generosity enabled them to bring much-needed dinghy parts, team shirts, and hats for our school. We are deeply appreciative of their donations and the time effort and resources it took them to make this happen.
National Parks Authority Sponsorship
A huge thank you also to the National Parks Authority who this year very kindly donated EC$25,000 towards our schools programme. With the creation of the yachting industry in Antigua and Barbuda which started in Nelson’s Dockyard and the history & environment which is protected to this day, we all enjoy the benefits of being located within the Nelson’s Dockyard National Park. We are very much appreciate the significant donation which is helping us continue to support the free schools sailing programme throughout the year.
Sandals Foundation
Antigua’s Girls High School and Five Islands Primary are two of the newest schools to start on the Schools Programme. This was very much due to the donations from the Sandals Foundation which has allowed us to support the new schools attending and ensure that we can not only include more schools in the North of the island but also ensure we keep increasing the numbers of girls coming into the sport.
Tim Law & Peters & May
In January, Tim Law, a laser sailor who holidays in Antigua each year very kindly donated a Laser to the National Sailing Academy. This generous donation was made possible with support from the Antiguan Government and the renowned shipper Peters & May, who transported the Laser/ILCA from the U.K., with insurance underwritten by Munich Re Speciality . At the handover, Tim expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he has always received and praised the excellent training provided to the Academy's young sailors. We look forward to welcoming Tim back to Antigua later this year when he will continue his own laser training.
