Congratulations to Diego Ewinger, age 13, 7th out of 50 at the prestigious Tuuci Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta in Miami over the Christmas Holidays. The Regatta was attended by over 700 sailors from 20 countries.
Hosted by Coral Reef Yacht Club, the Tuuci Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta is the largest International Youth Sailing Regatta in the US and in South America. It is the 2nd largest Youth Regatta worldwide.
An Optimist sailor, Diego growing in height and weight, 3 months ago, Diego moved out of the Optimist Class into the Laser Class. At the Orange Cowl, he competed in the ILCA 4 (formerly Laser 4.7) fleet,
During this 5 days Event Diego he placed 2nd place on the 2nd day and 4th place on the 3rd day of the Regatta. With an over early in one race and a capsize in the last he still achieved 7th Place Overall in a very competitive Fleet. Diego was the youngest sailor of the top 20 in his Fleet.
The Weather Conditions were windy and cold. Not ideal for this warm weather sailor.
