NATIONAL SAILING ACADEMY

We offer sailing courses, dinghy, SUP, and Kayak rentals and also have keelboats available for hire with or without skippers.

We are a non-profit which teaches children of Antigua to sail for free as part of the National Curriculum as well as the differently-abled children and adults of Antigua. All funds received from private tuition, group classes, and equipment rentals are used to support the operation year-round ensuring more Antiguans become sailors both for recreation and career.  We appreciate any support we receive to help develop our youths into the sailors of the future.

The NSA is open 7 days a week from 10am-5.30pm and outside those times by agreement. We have a 10-day closure for annual and training vacation for our instructors and so will be fully open from 11^th August, 2021. We welcome sailors from as young as 6 with no upper age limit and of all abilities whether fully-abled or with physical or intellectual challenges. There is still some availability on sailing courses week commencing 26^th July.

Learning to Sail

We offer both group and private sailing lessons and a choice of casual or RYA classes.

RYA Courses

The National Sailing Academy is an RYA Dinghy Training Centre offering RYA Levels 1-3, Seamanship Skills, Sailing with Spinnaker, Start Racing, Youth Sailing Scheme Levels 1 – 4 and Youth Start Sailing. Each course is a total of 16 hours sailing and you will receive a logbook and certificate on completion of the course.

Casual Sailing Courses

For people who would like to learn to sail but in a more casual manner and don’t want to do as intensive sailing as the RYA’s, we offer casual lessons. They are 90 minutes each and can be booked individually or in a group of 3 or 5 depending on if they are private or group sessions.

Timing

• Private Lessons – can be booked at any time and scheduled according to your required dates and times.
• Group Classes – up to 6 people per group and running over 3 days from Wednesday 11^th – 13^th August, and then either mornings from 9.30am or afternoons from 2pm Monday to Friday on 16^th and 23^rd August.

Rentals

If you are proficient and want to head out on your own, with a friend in the bay and plan to do so regularly, we offer two types of Watersports Pass

SUP, Kayak and Dinghy Daily – US$130/ EC$350 per person, per month

Kayak and SUP only -  US$80/EC$200 per month.

The dinghy fleet includes Lasers, RS Zests, RS Feva’s, RS Ventures, Hobie 14, Hansa 303’s and can be hired individually or as a fleet.

Zests & Hansas - EC$80/US$30 for Zests

All other boats – EC$130/US$50

Kayaks/SUP’s – US$30

Double Kayaks – US$40

The rental price is per boat/vessel, for 2 hours.

Sunset to Moonlight Kayak Tours

We run these trips two evenings per month around Full Moon. We paddle out to the sunset and paddle back straight into the full moon. With that said, there are no guarantees that we get either, but we guarantee a magical experience every time as there’s nothing like kayaking around the harbour as the evening lights start to twinkle and the moon rises.

Arrival for 5.15pm, Tour Starts at 5.30pm and end by 7.30pm.

Recommended clothing – anything you are happy to get a little wet in and bring a dry bag for your phone if you want to take photos and a torch. All paddlers must wear a life jacket.

Next Tour - August 21/22

Cost: EC$75/US$28 per person – a total of 10 people can paddle on each trip in 4 single kayaks and 3 doubles.

Keel Boat Day Sails Available

Day sailing is available on our keelboats with or without a skipper – half and full day available – 28 ft Contessa, Cork 1720 or 38ft Catamaran. Prices are quoted based on the number of people, whether tuition is required and length of time but start from EC$500/US$202 for a half-day.

On Property

A Dive Shop, Day Spa, and Island Fusion Bar and Restaurant are also all located on the same property as the National Sailing Academy as well as private room rentals.
