AWESOME WEEKEND FOR OVER 100 YOUNGSTERS AT THE INET KENNY BENJAMIN YOUTH FEST 2012 Monday 13th February 2012
“It was great and can’t wait for the next one”, that was the general consensus of the youngsters, parents and coaches who participated in the inet Kenny Benjamin Youth Festival, held last weekend at the world famous Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds, .
Over 100 youngsters both male and female took part on an action packed weekend that saw them participating in interactive workshops in Nutrition, Drama, Public Speaking, Finance and internet safety. They also received fitness tips from the West Indies senior team fitness instructor Hector Charles and had special Master Class sessions with former West Indies great Curtly Ambrose and fellow team mate Kenny Benjamin.
By the time the five team played a series of round robin matches, it was clear that the winner was ‘’enthusiasm”, as boys and girls played their heart out in 10/10 matches as well as impromptu matches spread out across field under the watchful eye of the West Indies Women’s team.
Their presence was an added bonus and encouraged the girls to really get involved in cricket: “Although the women were in serious training sessions they did take the time to comment that this is a really good event and we know that our girls got a real boost knowing that they too can make a career out of cricket,” stated Kenny Benjamin, one of the founders of the inet Kenny Benjamin Youth Fest and he added that thanks to the energy of the facilitators – Marcella Andre, Gavin Henry, Janice Benjamin and Linisa George the bar was raised to another level:
“The coaches and youngsters were very impressed with the workshops and took away tips and exercises they can use during their regular coaching sessions and in life in general. We cannot thank the facilitators, Curtly, Hector and our partners – inet, A. S. Bryden & Sons, Anjo Wholesalers, Frank B. Armstrong, Galleon Beach Hotel, Godard Catering, Paperclips, Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds and Sugar Ridge, enough for their belief in this event and for helping us to deliver a memorable weekend.”
The inet Kenny Benjamin Youth Fest is organised by Persona Community, a company that combines sport, education and event management
