FIRST AID TRAINING
Wednesday 21st April 2010

More than eight hundred persons have been trained in basic first aid through a joint venture between St John’s Ambulance, the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) and the Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force.

The St John’s Ambulance is seeking to have 1800 persons trained through the initiative which started in October 2009.

Among those trained so far are teachers, public servants, ABDF personnel, District Disaster Coordinators, police officers etc.
Teachers and persons working in home health care make up the bulk of individuals that have utilized the opportunity to receive training in basic first aid.

On Tuesday employees from the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA), the Public Safety Communications Network (PSCN) and two private schools were the latest to receive training.
The St John’s Ambulance basic first aid training courses are conducted every Tuesday and Thursday at NODS headquarters on American Road.
