TN KIRNON PRIMARY SCHOOL RECOGNIZED FOR PROACTIVE DISASTER MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME Wednesday 19th October 2011
The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) recognized the TN Kirnon Primary School and the School for the Deaf on Thursday for their proactive disaster management programme.
Director of NODS Philmore Mullin presented a plaque to Principal Rolston Nickeo, on the occasion of International Day for Disaster Reduction, being recognized today under the theme “Making youth partners for disaster risk reduction”.
Mullin following a workshop in 2007 with teachers of both public and private institutions, NODS has been monitoring the TN Kirnon Primary and the School for the deaf and the organization has been impressed with the efforts so far.
Both schools have been working together and have a disaster plan in place, an evacuation process and a disaster Preparedness Committee chaired by one of the teachers at TN Kirnon Vernon Parillon.
