CHEVRON WEST INDIES LIMITED DONATES TO GRACE
Friday 3rd December 2010

The Citizens Welfare Division is getting well-needed support in its Christmas food hamper distribution programme targeting the country’s elderly.

On Friday, Chevron West Indies Limited, formerly Texaco, the main supporter of the programme, donated approximately eight thousand dollars worth of food items and toiletries to the government department.

Business Consultant for Chevron West Indies Limited Curtis Francis made the presentation to Manager of Government’s Residential and Care Programme for the Elderly (GRACE).

Francis says the company has been involved with the programme for the last four years.

According to one Welfare Aide, the Citizens Welfare Division usually assists about 800 individuals but due to the economic situation that number could be less this year. Several other businesses also contribute to the programme.

Meanwhile, Chevron West Indies Limited is also lending support to the Cana and Grays Hill Moravian Churches outreach programme.

The company’s Business Consultant handed over two desk top computers to Pastor Adrian Smith, who leads both congregations.

According to Pastor Smith, the computers will be used in the churches home work lesson centre and a multimedia centre that will be part of a library, which is soon to be opened.

As part of the home work programme, students get assistance in Math and English from Mondays to Thursdays.
