Medical supplies and equipment to the tune of one million EC dollars were handed over this morning to the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) for use mainly at the Hanna Thomas Hospital in Barbuda.
Communications Officer with the British High Commission Brent Scotland made the presentation to NODS Director Philmore Mullin. Also present were Resident Medical Doctor in Barbuda Dr. Jeremy Deazle and Medical Officer of Health Dr. Oritta Zechariah from the Ministry of Health.
The items included hospital beds, wheel chairs, urine bags, bed pans, incubator, dressings, syringes, respiratory systems, theater uniforms, theater metal instruments, adult pampers, office furniture, creams, ointment, cough medicine and assorted dressings.
Scotland says the British High Commission looks forward to assisting Barbuda in achieving its most efficient state.
Dr. Deazle expressed gratitude to the British High Commission and noted that the supplies and equipment will help to limit the number of patients that have to be sent to the Mount St. John Medical Centre for medical attention.
