TIGER TYSON WINS SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR Monday 18th March 2024
Antigua rules the waves! Accolades are due to Tiger Tyson for clinching the esteemed title of Antigua & Barbuda Sportsman of the Year! This achievement marks only the second occasion a sailing luminary has grasped this prestigious honor since Karl James, MBE, claimed the mantle in 2001. A shout out to Junella King, the senior woman nominee, and Emily Gaillard, the junior contender, both of whom secured coveted positions among the top three finalists in their respective categories. Don’t forget Patrick Greensmith, the junior nominee, who is commended.
Regrettably absent from the festivities due to competitive commitments, Tiger is currently facing fierce competition at the European Championship in Spain. His award was accepted by his father, Michael Tyson. Likewise, Junella King, currently navigating the oceans aboard the vessel MAIDEN, in the Ocean Globe Race, finds herself somewhere amidst the Atlantic swells between Uruguay and the UK. Her brother received the award on her behalf. These accolades just go to show what young persons in Antigua and Barbuda are achieving here and globally.
