Whether you are a professional, the life of a tennis player is not an easy one.
 
After spending three weeks on the road and three competitions later, Jody Maginley has earned himself some much wanted ranking points. It's every tennis player's dream, climbing the rankings.
 
Maginley, who recently played in Costa Rica and El Salvador spent last week in Bermuda where he secured a main draw spot in the Bank of Bermuda Foundation ITF junior tournament. Maginley easily advanced to the second round of the singles competition defeating Ninan Kumar of the USA 6-3, 6-2 but was soon ousted in round 2 by Stefan Cooper of the USA going down 3-6, 6-3, 2-6.
 
Maginley however made his mark in the doubles competition after teaming up with Kevin Major of the Bahamas. The pair had a good run entering the doubles competition as the #2 seed which earned them a bye into the doubles quarter finals where they defeated Canadian duo Dane Dunlap and Jack W. Van Slyke 6-2, 6-4. Advancing to the semi finals they found success again defeating Americans Courtney Murphy and Myles Schalet 3-6, 6-1 ( 10-8) securing their spot in the finals. Winning this competition was not to be, unfortunately, as Maginley & Major lost to Robert Levine (USA) & Jorge Vargas of Colombia 6-3, 6-2.
 
As Maginley moves on to the Copa Horizontes Amistad in Cuba we wish him every success.
