12 & UNDER YOUTH TOURNAMENT UPDATES Monday 11th March 2013
The stage has been set for Monday's Finals of the ABTA 12 & Under Youth Tournament which commenced on Saturday 9th March, 2013.
In the boys competition
Aiden Fuller (Halcyon Tennis / St. Nicholas Primary) is scheduled to take on Justin Marcano (Jolly Harbour/St. Andrews Primary) in the boys finals.
Aiden Fuller the #1 seed coming out of the round robin competition secured his spot in the finals with his semi finals win over Seth Joseph(Halcyon Tennis-Jolly Harbour/St. Nicholas) in straight sets(4-0,4-2) while Justin Marcano earned his spot in the finals with his two set marathon match but eventually getting the better of Aron Fields(Halcyon Tennis/St. Andrews Primary) 5-3, 5-4
In the girls competition
Chante Francis (Halcyon Tennis/ Antigua Girls High) is scheduled to take on Ashley Bersma (Halcyon Tennis/St. Nicolas Primary) in the girls finals.
Francis' spot was secured with her semi finals win over the #1 seed Shereese Henry (Halcyon Tennis/St. John's Catholic Primary) 4-0,5-3 while Bersma defeated Chernia Norris (Halcyon tennis/Minoah Magnet Academy) also in straight sets 5-3, 5-3
The start of the tournament was plagued with rain delays; but with every grey cloud their is a silver lining as were graced with the presence of the Minister of Sports -Hon Winston Williams who lead the charge as our juniors prepared to do battle.
