WILLIAMS ADVANCES TO CARIBBEAN DEVELOPMENT MAIN DRAW Tuesday 28th August 2012
After getting off to a slow start competition at this years 13 & Under Caribbean Development Championships commenced yesterday at Shaw Park, Scarborough Tobago.
Only 10 countries were in attendance at the start of opening day; Bahamas Absence due to Tropical Storm Isaac delaying travel. Countries present was Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, Bonaire, Grenada, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Lucia and host country Trinidad and Tobago.
Cordell Williams Jr. was off to a slow start on day one but bounced back today securing his main draw spot. On day one Cordell Jr was defeated by Patrick Sydow (ARU) 1-4, 1-4 but with his fighting spirit secured a win today against Kobe James 4-2, 5-4(7-3).
Justice Christopher was not as lucky, as he will be playing the consolation draw due to his losses in both his round robin qualifiers. On day one Justice loss to Yannick Finies (BON) 2-4, 5-3 and today was also defeated by Joshua Arnold (TRI) 2-4 , 5-3.
Late start of play on day one has caused for doubling up in matches. Main draw matches will start this afternoon. At time of this press update Cordell Williams Jr was on court.
