DAY OF GLORY FOR TEAM ANTIGUA Monday 13th August 2012
It was a day of glory for team Antigua & Barbuda as they advance in the competition.
A&B DOUBLES TEAM
#2 seeded Doubles team of Jody Maginley & Alex Rybakov (USA) defeated Doubles team of Manual Castellanos(DOM)/Cardenas G Penchyna (MEX) 7-6(1), 6-4 in the quarterfinals advancing them to the semi finals. Doubles team of Shakir Elvin & Matthew Hutchinson (BAR) defeated the Venezulan doubles team of Gervis Gonzalez / Sessa F Racanelli winning the first set 6-3 and taking the second set at 2-2 after the venezulan defaulted.
JODY MAGINLEY ADVANCES TO SEMI-FINALS
As the luck of the draw would have it Jody Maginley & Shakir Elvin at oposite ends of the net. In the doubles Semifinals today Jody Maginley and his doubles partner Alex Rybakov (USA) took down Shakir Elvin and Matthew Hutchinson(BAR) in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 advancing them to the doubles finals.
JESSICA WINS UNDER 14 DOUBLES TITLE
After a long day (9 Aug 2012) and 4 matches later Antiguan Jessica Isaac teaming up with Jaime Lewis (BAR) took the girls Under 14 doubles title defeating the Vincentian twins Denee & Luka Lyttle 6-2, 6-3. Isaac & Lewis secured their finals spot after defeating the all St. Lucian team of Jayda Hunte/ Megan Williams 6-1, 7-5.
As the Coco Cola LCA Jr. Tournament draws to a close the Antiguan team moves on to SVG ITF jr. tournament. With one more potential success tomorrow at the St. Lucia tournament, we congratulate all the Antiguan athletes who showed promise in their quest for the under 14 and under 18 singles and doubles titles at this ITF tournament,
