Yesterday ( 8 Aug, 2012) was not the best of days for team Antigua & Barbuda but while the results may not have been the best, feedback coming from courtside indicated that both Under 18 players who competed today showed a fighting spirit.
In what is described as a beautifully played match, Jody Maginley was defeated by Gianlucc Massa (USA) 7-6(2), 7-6(6). D'Jeri Raymond also lost the fight for a second round spot as she came up against Danielle Thompson (BAH) losing 6-0, 6-1.
The start of the boys under 14 doubles competition saw the Antiguan doubles team of Cordell Williams jr & Justice Christopher going down to the all Vincentian team of Sebastian & Alexander Cyrus 6-0 6-7(7), (11-9)
All is not lost yet as our under 18 players commence their doubles competitions today also scheduled is under 14 singles semifinals and the girls doubles competition.
