DOUBLE SUCCESS FOR D’JERI RAYMOND Thursday 19th July 2012
Yesterday (18 Jul 2012) marked the end of the Under 14 competition at the Jamaica’s ITF Jr. Tournament at the Eric Bell Tennis Center in Kingston Jamaica. D’Jeri Raymond who two (2) weeks ago captured the TIHTA Aruba girls U14 singles and doubles title has repeated this feat at Jamaica’s ITF Jr. Tournament.
Tuesday (17 Jul 2012) Raymond and her doubles partner Shaeda Nickle of Jamaica defeated doubles team of IIana Blackwood (BAR)/ Stephanie Davis (JAM) 6-1, 6-4. Raymond was not as victorious in her final match today going down to IIana Blackwood of Barbados 6-2,5-7 after retiring in the 3rd set .
However, Raymond still had the edge, not having lost any of her prior matches. Raymond’s win / loss stats was the deciding factor in this playoff competition. The boys U18 competition brought more good news for Antigua as Jody Maginley along with his doubles partner Daniel Shebshayevich of the USA defeated Joseph Altmann (CRC)/ Ryotaro Matsumura (JPN) 6-3, 4-6 (10-7) booking their spot in the doubles semi finals.
