TIHTA ARUBA: SUCCESS IN DOUBLES FOR TEAM ANTIGUA Wednesday 4th July 2012
Team Antigua continues to push forward in the TIHTA Aruba ITF tournament. Success came in the U18 doubles competition with Jody Maginley and his doubles partner Kenta Kurita (JPN) defeat over the all Aruban team of Anthony Harms & Timothy In't Veld 7-5, 6-2 securing their spot in the Boys doubles quarter finals.
Defeat however came for Kyle Joseph both in the singles and doubles competition. Joseph teamed up with Alex Rybakov (USA) to take on the #2 seeded doubles team Santiago Cellavos(MEX)/Ryataro Matsumura (JPN) falling short of earning a quarterfinals spot losing 6-7(2), 2-6. Joseph was also ousted in the boys U18 singles 2nd round competition losing to #4 seed Nicholas Jarry (USA) 3-6, 3-6
The girls U14 competition kicked off with the #1 seeded team of D'Jeri Raymond & doubles partner Gina Van Deer Veen (ARUBA) earning their spot in the finals after defeating Everlyanne Kelly (ARU)/Gabriella Singer (CUW) 6-4, 6-2; this after earning their semi finals spot due to a BYE.
