MAGINLEY AND RAYMOND ADVANCE TO THE MAIN DRAW Monday 2nd July 2012
Another long day of qualifying matches was met with some success and some failure. Noah Peter competing in her first Under 18 girls’ competition was met with some disappointment in the qualifying round, when she was ousted by the #1 seeded girls’ qualifier Alexandra Bourguignon of the USA in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Jody Maginley who had earned his spot in the final round of the qualifiers lost today to Gustavo Gonsalez of Mexico 6-3, 6-0. However, all was not lost for Maginley as he secured a spot in the main draw as a Lucky Loser. Maginley will play his first round main draw competition tomorrow against the qualifier Peter Bertran of Dominican Republic. Also competing tomorrow is Kyle Joseph, who will meet Joseph Altmann of Costa Rica.
Success was also earned today by D’Jeri Raymond who secured her main draw spot after defeating Valeria Humpierres of Venezuela 4-2, 4-4 (10-1 tie break). Raymond will meet Gina Van Der Veen Of Aruba in her first round of the main draw.
