RUPERT K. HENRY FIRST ANNUAL FUN/HEALTH WALK DEEMED A SUCCESS Wednesday 27th June 2012
The Inaugural Rupert K. Henry Fun/Health Walk, hosted by the Halcyon Tennis Club, was deemed a great success by its organizers. Beginning at 5AM from Shell Beach Marina, a compliment of 50 plus walkers and runners of all ages went along Jabberwok, Hodges Bay, Cedar Grove and ended their stride at Halcyon by Rex Resorts tennis courts.
Many participants were successful in their completion of this walk, however, among those who were recognized and awarded, included first-place winner, Antonette Hobson, followed by Edwin Hughes in second, the youngest walker coming in first,Seth Joseph, the oldest walker coming in first, Elmore ‘EP’ Piggot and Aiden Ambrose, the first-place runner. The day’s activities were cemented with the passing of avid tennis player and fan of the junior development program, Rupert K. Henry, himself.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the dedication and support of the events sponsors. Special thanks is sent to Antigua Home and Office Depot & Hadeed Motors for providing water for the walkers and to Cool & Smooth and Columbian Emeralds for providing prizes for the category winners.
The Organizers would also like to thank all other non-participants of the Rupert K. Henry Fun/Health Walk, who freely donated to the effort. The support of the general public is encouraged for this junior development affair. As support continues to come in, both the organizer and participants have high hopes and great expectation for for this event to be even more successful in 2013.
