ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA PARTICIPATES IN THE 2011 PAN AMERICAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS Thursday 21st July 2011
The Pan American Junior Athletics Championships will begin tomorrow, Friday July 22, in Miramar, Miami. The three day event will see the participation of six (6) national athletes including four(4) who are eligible for the Commonwealth Youth Games taking place in September this year in the Isle of Man.
The six national track and field stars who will participate in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4 x 100m relay and the shot put include:
Mr. Tahir Walsh
Mr. Cejhae Greene
Mr. Kasheen Colbourne
Mr. Mark Phillips
Ms. Edlyne Edgecombe
The Coach/Chaperone for the delegation is Ms. Heather Samuel and Mr. Leslie Williams will serve as Manager.
The President of the Association, Dr. Rodney Williams expressed best wishes to the team on behalf of his Executive and Members and stated that he was of the firm belief that if the athletes performed up to the expected standard, they would have no difficulty in bringing home some medals for Antigua and Barbuda.
According to 3rd Vice President of the Association, Mr. Calvin Greenaway, the Pan American Championships will be quite competitive since it will feature participants from South, Central and North America as well as the Caribbean Countries including Cuba and Puerto Rico.
