DIGICEL LAUNCHES TEXT AND VOICE DONATION LINE TO SUPPORT RELIEF EFFORTS

Mobile operator encourages its 10 million plus customers worldwide to "text a helping hand" to support relief efforts in Haiti
Thursday, January 14th, 2009 - Kingston, Jamaica: Digicel Group today launched a text and voice donation line to enable its 10 million plus customers worldwide to donate money to the massive humanitarian relief effort that is urgently needed in Haiti.
By texting the word "HELP" or calling 5151, Digicel customers in any of its 32 markets worldwide can make a difference to the people of Haiti by contributing directly to the relief efforts following the earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince and other parts of the country on Tuesday, January 12th, 2009.
Digicel will donate all funds it receives from the text and voice donation line to the relief efforts in Haiti. Importantly, there is no restriction on the number of texts or calls a customer can send or make, so people are free to donate as much as they like.
Caribbean and Central American nationals living in the Diaspora can also take part in the text donation. By simply topping up the Digicel number +1 876 295 0000 in select Digicel top up retail stores* in the US, UK, the Bahamas, Canada, the French West Indies and Turks & Caicos or via Digicel Online Top Up on http://www.facebook.com/l/d5b15;www.digiceljamaica.com with the amount you wish to donate, Digicel will send the money directly to its NGO partners in Haiti.

The money collected will go towards the OCM Haiti Relief Fund, which was established in 2009 and is administered by Mr. Reginald Dumas who has worked in Haiti and has written a book about the challenges there.
