TRAFFIC INFORMATION THIRD WORLD SHOW Thursday 29th April 2010
Finally this evening is the big night for Antigua Sailing Week as organizers host their party at Shirley Heights for the ‘Sunset from the Heights’ party with Third World as the main act for the evening.
Following the success of the English Harbour Street Party on Tuesday evening the organizing committee have held an emergency meeting together with the police this morning to review traffic management measures in place for this evenings concert to ensure it runs smoothly.
There are five designated parking areas which will be utilized and as one fills up, the traffic will be directed to the next. They are Shirley Heights, Blockhouse, Dow’s Hill Interpretation Centre, English Harbour Football Field, Marsh Village and finally if they all full, St. Paul’s Rectory Grounds.
For persons who are lucky enough to arrive early, they will be able to park and walk as they will be at Shirley Heights, and for all other people a park and ride will be in place. The cost will be EC$3.50 each way as the vehicles providing the park and ride service are private persons.
On exiting the event the buses and taxes will be on hand to start taking people back to their respective drop off points and organizers ask for people to be patient while all efforts will be made to carry as many persons down the hill as quickly as possible back to their vehicle.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda along with the Task Force and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force will be on the road handling traffic and within the event itself ensuring everybody is safe and secure. Lighting will ensure your car is visible at all park and ride venues.
The organizing committee are urging everyone to come early as the programme begins at 5pm and runs through until 10pm. Where possible persons should organize a car pool between friends to reduce the amount of cars going up to Shirley Heights, come early and enjoy the entire evening.
