INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S CLUB OPENS 2013 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS Monday 25th March 2013
The International Women’s Club of Antigua and Barbuda would like to announce that this year’s Scholarship applications are now available. The programme is open to all women of Antiguan nationality pursuing academic degrees or coursework in the fields of nursing, pharmacy, x-ray technician, education and economic development, excluding legal and accounting fields. Coursework, including on-line degrees, must be pursued in educational institutions in Antigua and Barbuda or within the Caribbean.
Recipients of this award are expected to return to Antigua upon completion of their studies and apply their education towards the betterment of the nation. Awards are based on both academic excellence and need. Applicants MUST begin their academic programme in 2013 and must NOT have received more than one (1) prior IWC Scholarship. Applicants will be contacted for an interview upon receipt of completed applications, which are confidential and become the property of the International Women’s Club.
The International Women’s Club Scholarship is meant as a supplemental award to assist in the cost of tuition or other opportunity costs associated with higher education. Funds, which are raised mainly through sponsorships, donations, a live auction and green fees associated with the Club’s Annual Golf for Education Tournament, will be distributed directly to the institution or school, not the applicant. Awards in the past have ranged from EC$500 to EC$8,000. Each applicant MUST be available for an in-person interview, without exception. No application will be considered if incomplete or received after the closure date of 11th May 2013.
To be eligible, an application MUST include a completed application form, accompanied by two (2) academic letters of reference, one (1) page typewritten essay, the applicant’s last two (2) official academic transcripts, the applicant’s Letter of Acceptance including course fees, and a passport-size photo.
