ANTIGUA’S GOT RHYTHM ANNOUNCES FINALISTS Thursday 8th April 2010
The audition judges for Antigua’s Got Rhythm--Junior Edition have selected the 16 acts that will proceed to the Final Event, to be held 17 April at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre.
The judges, including Shirlene Nibbs, Paul Cort, Karen Samuel, Kirsy Kullmann, Janelle Williams and Joanne Gueverra , selected the following entrants for the Final:
4-7 Age Group--drummer Tamar Thomas and pan player Aron Fields
8-11 Age Group--Singers Golda Parry, Adiedre Robinson and Kemica Browne; dancer Charity Henry; comedian Noah Fields; and pan player Jevonte Chatham
12-15 Age Group--Singers Kerel James, Kenisha Caleb and Tarique Zachariah; dancer Kita Butler and dancing pair Nadia and Jonathan Murphy; violinist Curtis Omar Byron; pianist Kayla Harris; and pan player Chekiyah Martin.
In the final event to be televised live on ABS-TV, children will be competing within age groups. The winner in each group will receive a cash prize of $500. Winners will be chosen by a combination of votes from celebrity judges, the audience, and LIME cell phone owners who participate via Text to Win. Then from these three winners, judges will select an overall Grand Winner who will receive an additional $500 prize and a performance opportunity based on their talent.
The celebrity judges for the Final include singer Claudette CP Peters, Dr. Alvin Edwards, singer Leslie Nanton, voice instructor Paul Cort, dance instructor Joanne Bento, and record producer Torsten Stenzel.
Tickets for the final, to begin promptly at 7 p.m. on 17 April, cost $40 for adults and $20 for children 15 and under. They can be purchased at the door or in advance from members of the International Women’s Club who will have a table at Woods Centre on Friday, 9 April, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 April, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sponsors signed up for the event include LIME, ABI Financial Group, Caribbean Union Bank, Kenneth A. Gomez & Sons, Anjo Insurance, and the Observer newspaper.
