ANTIGUA WINS SEVERAL WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS Tuesday 17th September 2013
Antigua & Barbuda was rightfully declared the 2013 Caribbean's Leading Honeymoon Destination, after four-time consecutive winner St. Lucia and has also won the World's Leading Honeymoon Destination award three times at the World Travel Awards.

Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer accepted the leading Caribbean romance destination award at the 2013 World Travel Awards Caribbean & North American Gala Ceremony on September 14th at the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa in Antigua.
The event, now in its 20th year, was established for the purpose of recognizing and celebrating achievements in all areas of the world’s travel and tourism industry also known as the Oscars of the travel industry. The results are based on travel agencies, industry professionals and the general public from more than 160 countries.
Other hopeful nominees for the 2013 Caribbean's Leading Honeymoon Destination included: Anguilla, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands Cayman Islands, Grenada, Jamaica, Nevis, St. Barts, St Lucia, St. Martin’s, St Vincent & The Grenadines Turks & Caicos.
The island was also nominated in two other categories: 2013 Caribbean's Leading Destination and 2013 Caribbean's Leading Tourist Board
Among the numerous awards and accolades the island has received recognizing it as a top romantic destination, in the Caribbean. The two-part finale of the hit reality series, The Bachelorette was filmed on the twin island state where ABC’s brought cast and crew to shoot the Season 9: Final Rose Ceremony at the three all-inclusive Elite Island Resorts; The St. James Club and Villas, The Verandah Resort and Spa and the Galley Bay Resort and Spa, which aired on international TV on July 29th and August 5th, reaching millions of fans across the globe.
