AYI E-NEWSLETTER: ISSUE #22
Thursday 15th December 2011

Dear Readers:

Wow!  What a busy few weeks it has been since the last issue of Antigua’s Yachting Insider.  There is suddenly so much going on that we were worried we wouldn’t be able to get all of the latest news in just one issue.  But now that it’s December and there is so much to report on, we’re back to doing two issues per month so we can keep you current.

Last week English and Falmouth Harbours were host to the 50th Antigua Charter Yacht Show and what a show it was!  We were fortunate to have the opportunity to go on board several yachts and get the inside story on the yachts, the crew and their plans for the season.  This issue includes stories about several of those yachts including Bliss and Coral of Cowes, and a feature on Antiguan first mate Jace Hector on S/Y Melinka.  We also had an opportunity to interview the manager Captain Nick Line of Va Bene and Sequel P who helped explain the importance of the Charter Yacht Show to Antigua and the Antiguan economy.

Antigua Yacht Club recently hosted a new regatta sponsored by HIHO which was a huge success.  There are plenty of activities on the calendar for the coming months including the ABSAR Wobbly BYOB (that is ‘Build Your Own Boat’) Regatta, the Nelson’s Pursuit Race and the High Tide Christmas Series of racing.  And don’t forget racing every Saturday afternoon in Jolly Harbour, all year round!  A story that will be of interest to all yachtsmen including cruisers, is our story about eSeaClear, the Caribbean Pre-Arrival Notification System, which is expected to be launched in Antigua early in 2012.

Christmas is in the air and I know many of us are looking forward to the annual champagne party in Nelson’s Dockyard on Christmas day, all proceeds from which will be donated to charity.  But while preparing for your Christmas feast, be sure to make time to read, enjoy, and pass on the news to all your friends to help spread the word about what’s happening in yachting in and around Antigua.  Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all our readers!

Check out the inside scoop on the Antigua Charter Yacht Show, Nelson's Pursuit & eSeaClear in this month's issue here.
