WICB HOSTS WORKSHOP FOR YOUTH COACHES & TDOS.

The West Indies Cricket Board is hosting a historic workshop for Youth Coaches and Territorial Development Officers (TDOs) from around the region.

Over 30 coaches from 15 territories gathered at the City View Hotel in St John’s on Monday 22nd and today Tuesday 23rd August for the comprehensive two day engagement.
 
The Youth Coaches were selected from the Digicel Cricket Grassroots and Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket programmes.
 
Project Officers for Grassroots Cricket and Kiddy Cricket Fawwaz Baksh and KJ Singh joined with WICB Player Relations Officer Ayana Cooper and WICB TDO for Trinidad & Tobago Kumar Rampat to facilitate the workshop.
 
“The workshop was geared towards ensuring that our Youth Coaches and TDOs have the latest information and are fully informed of all aspects of the WICB youth programmes which are critical to the development in the region,” Baksh explained.
 
“We want to ensure that coaches and TDOs are not lacking information and the programmers strengths, weaknesses and challenges are reviewed and discussed in depth situation, to collectively find solutions to strengthen the both executions of both programmes” Singh added.
The workshop participants examined and discussed the upcoming Kiddy Cricket activities and Kiddy Cricket Teacher’s Coaching Manual and reviewed the Grassroots Programme for the first half of 2011 while discussing ways in which it can be enhanced.
 
The participants also reviewed the Grassroots Coaching Handbook and were briefed on anti-doping and anti-corruption matters by Cooper.
 
Attending Territories: Guyana, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, St. Kitts & Nevis, Grenada, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Antigua, Anguilla, US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Montserrat, St. Maarten. 
 
The workshop is being funded by the WICB as part of its renewed focus on investment in developing the sport at all levels.
