15 YEAR OLD SCHOOL GIRL WINS WINDIES WOMEN CALL UP - QUINTYNE & KNIGHT JOIN WI WOMEN TO FACE PAKISTAN
Wednesday 17th August 2011

St John’s, Antigua – Fifteen year old Barbadian school girl Shaquana Quintyne has won a call up to the West Indies Women squad to face Pakistan in the Caribbean.

Quintyne along with her fellow Barbadian, Kycia Knight won maiden votes of the WICB Selection Committee to the 14 woman squad to be captained by the seasoned wicketkeeper/batswoman Merissa Aquilleira.

The 19 year old Knight is also a Barbadian national footballer who, like Aquilleira, is a wicketkeeper/batswoman while Quintyne is a leg spinner.

Both recently competed in the WICB Women’s 50 Over League which was won by Jamaica.

Windies Women will take on Pakistan Women in four One Day Internationals and four International Twenty20s in St Vincent, Grenada and Guyana starting August 28th and running until September 11th.

The star studded Windies squad includes the world rated all rounder Stafanie Taylor and batting powerhouse Deandra Dottin along with world rated spinner Anisa Mohamed.

Also in the squad is Player-of-the-Tournament of the WICB Women’s 50 Over League Shanel Daley, the Jamaican all rounder and experienced West Indian performer. Another impressive all rounder, the veteran Stacy-Ann King is a part of the formidable line up.

Aguilleira, Taylor, Dottin, Mohamed, King and Daley created history earlier this year when they became the first batch of female West Indian cricketers to secure retainer contracts from the WICB.
