LAUNCH OF SUMMER CLOUD Friday 9th April 2010
Woodstock launched Carriacou Sloop Summer Cloud this afternoon, following an extensive refit, including replacing all topside planking, small portion of underwater planking, new bulwarks, cap rail, 50% of top timbers (bulwark stanchions), Knightheads, breasthook, transom, stern knees, fashion timbers, rudder box, covering boards, boom and gaff jaws, complete bronze refastening & caulked, overhauled Yanmar engine and rebuilt gear box. She will be available for use, amongst other boats, to Antigua Yacht Club for the newly formed National Sailing Academy of Antigua, a non-profit charitable organization, run with the government’s stamp of approval in conjunction with Sailing being added to Antigua’s National Sports & therefore being available free in schools as part of their curriculum. The 39 ft Summer Cloud was built in Carriacou in 1995 & is a previous trophy winner at Antigua Classic Regatta.
